ive been getting them since childhood, more than a few times gotten so bad with the blood that i had to go to a doctor. its never reached my kidneys however.

im a vegan and try to eat organic, limit my sugar intake, not an alcoholic, dont drink coffee, don't smoke though i have been living with a tobacco smoker for 3 months.....so i dont know what it could be in my diet thats causing this.

i get a decent amount of exercise, slim build...

i think it may be connected with general anxiety, makes me think of the chinese medicine definition with too much yin....also my astrological chart seems to point toward an erratic health disorder, if anyones good with astrology i can share that info.

so yeah, im trying to look deeper and holistically figure out what this constant threat of getting a UTI is about.

if i dont drink plenty of water, it would come back, every single day. the burning starts sometimes even when i wake up if i didnt drink enough water the night before.

it would be wonderful to be able to live without this pain constantly trying to attack my nether regions.

is it possible ou have a minor kidney dysfunction even though the infection has not affected your kidneys as such? i know people with congenital kidney roblems who are VERY prone to bladder infection.traditional o classical Chinese medicine might be able to address some of this.

it might also be that there is a growth of some kind on the urinary bladder. getting a really thoough urological evaluation might make sense. blood in the urine is not somethng to mess with! an I know that it is painful.

a lot of UTIs in women are caused by E.coli, so i;s worth looking into whether you tend to get these infections after sex and if vigilant hygiene (I'm not insulting your hygiene here, just now that some women need to be especially mindful) would help. washing with water and a clean damp cloth after every bowel movement, wearing ultraclean cotton underwear even if it emans changing several tiems a day for a while, and making sure the laundry products you use are unscented and free of possible irritants might help a lot. and definitely wash before and after sex, and have your partner do th same and be scrupulous about ANY anal cross-contamination. esepcially, don't wear jeans or any kind of pantyhose or tights without good breathable cotton underpants.

it migh be useful to see whether there is a connection between spicy foods and bladder problems. for some people, chile peppers are passed along in the rine and can be irritating, and i;d definitely elmnate black pepper. according to Chinese or Ayurvedic medicine, your constitution might determine whether you tolerate hot or pungent foods well, and you ight want topick our foods from that.

taking dmulcent herbs such as slippery elm might also make your urine les rritating on its way through. I like the cranberry extrac capsules that are now available. se if you do well with hih doses of Vatamin C; the increased acidity of the urine sometiems elps clear up bladder infections too.
I;ve had good uck wih echinacea tincture as an anibiotic alternaive for bladder infections.

hope some of this helps! p[lease doget it looked into if it continues.

baking soda baths seem to be soohing to the external urinary meatus; baking soda is an amphoteric that can correct boh acid and base imblances (I learned this from m chemistry professor.)

I have dealt with your problem for about as long as you. I'm now 36 & even w/a hysterectomy for different problems, I *STILL* get them. I think you need to get your body chemistry more BASIC(think baking soda)--drink Cranberry Juice, or if you don't like that, there's tablets out there at vitamin stores that give as much if not more of the same help. DO NOT do Cranberry teas--you get all the taste w/NONE of the benefits. You might want to check w/your dr (ob/gyn is best in this, or a urologist if it's constant enough) & see what they can do to help you. You might have to be on a longer course of medication than usual dosing. I myself have to do 10-14 days worth of meds to everyone else's 3-7. A percentage of women are just more prone than others. You may be among us "lucky" (all sarcasm intended) few.

Also, get a hold of some PROBIOTIC yogurt. I realize you're a vegan, so you might also try getting a hold of some Acidophillus tablets. Both of these items will help get the "flora" (good bacteria) to regulate your health in that arena. Also, keep drinking WATER. This also helps flush things thru & helps your body to pass that bad stuff out. I don't suggest the mandatory 8 glasses per day--my ob/gyn actually doesn't agree w/it. He told me when your urine is clear, you've drunk enough water & anything more isn't benefiting you.

I hope that helps you. If you've got more questions or something, feel free to msg me.

I used to get bladder infections a *lot* and now I haven't had one in ... over 15 years. I think that women's anatomy in that area varies a lot, and those of us who have urethras closer to the vagina (and mine is really a bit inside the vaginal wall) are more susceptible to bladder infections than others.

The things that have helped me to prevent them:

        - always pee soon after vaginal penetrative type sex
        - always wipe front to back after peeing, never the opposite
        - stay hydrated
        - always wear 100% cotton underwear
        - avoid pantyhose, or if you must wear it, cut out the crotch (no, having cotton *inside* the nylon doesn't help much!)
        - never take baths with anything else in the water, like bubble baths, etc.
        - the minute you get the slight feeling of irritation that means you *might* be about to get one, start drinking massive amounts of
water, cranberry juice, the water asparagus was cooked in, or dandelion leaf tea/infusion, or all of the above. I really mean *massive* too -- drink until your stomach feels uncomfortably gurgly and you have to pee every 10 minutes.

        Good luck!

Parsley, Dandelion, Juniper Berries and Uva Ursi help kidney/bladder/urinary issues, and for soothing, use Marsh Mallow, Comfrey leaf, Oatstraw or Corn Silk. WATER WATER WATER! I see you do no coffee and no alcohol - no sodas of any kind, or non-herb tea either. No sugar either, it feeds it like crazy. Tell us how it goes!

I had chronic UTI's for 13 years until I found maya abdominal massage which has changed my life by lifting my uterus up off my bladder. I still need to take all of the precautions, though I have only had one in the past year. Go to www.arvigomassage.com to find out more.

I used to get them they were hell. It all came down to birth control. Back in the day diaphragms caused these and no one knew. What are you using for birth control? To expand on one of the previous posts, drink a tall glass of water before you go to bed with your partner. Right after sex, go to the bathroom and pee. Sometimes if there is a slight latex allergy condoms may cause the UTIs and this is one good remedy. Also having a lot of sex all at once after a period of abstenance may cause UTIs. Be meticulous about having your partner wash his/her hands before sex and wash yours too.

Cantharis will work magically as a homeopathic remedy. Grind one pill and mix into 4-6 oz of spring water and stir briskly. Do not touch the pill if poss. take about 1/4 tsp every 4 hrs until symptoms are relieved. Stir briskly each time before you do this. keep the glass in the refrigerator.

        Good luck!
