I need Help!

Hello Friends,

For two weeks now I have been suffering from an acute migraine at the back of my head. I went into hospital for tests and a CAT scan which thankfully didn't show up anything sinister (and reassured me that I actually have a brain! LOL).
However, they couldn't do anything about the pain. They gave me 2 different types of painkiller, one of which worsened the problem and had me being sick all day. A friend on Tribe suggested Turmeric, which has lessened the pain, but hasn't got rid of it.

Any tips or suggestions would be helpful, as I can't take much more of this permanent migraine.

Thank you and blessings to you all, Michy

I know of regular Western Medicinal remedies for that--Imitrex, Maxalt, etc. I have also found cool compresses at the back of the neck help lessen the pain--it opens the blood vessels as it cools the heat a migraine seems to cause. Have you tried a tea using boiled Aspen bark? Being the base for Asprin, it could help. I do know resting in a dark & quiet room should help too. I'm surprised the dr's gave you straight painkillers. Most give the above remedies I mentioned at the start as shots. Did you go to the ER or your regular dr? If you went to the ER, call your regular dr & get an appointment. They should be able to get you better in no time!

I wish w/all my heart you didn't have to suffer so long w/your migraines. I & my husband both have them too, so I *DEFINATELY* know your pain! But do something soon! 2 weeks is WAY too long for you to suffer like this!

I hope you get the help you need & the pain ends. YOu're in my thoughts & prayers.

hydrate! drink lots of water! most headaches are caused by dehydration.
make fresh rosemary tea - do not boil, just let it steep for 10-15 minutes, then sip throughout the day. rosemary increases circulation specifically to the head. using a few drops of quality rosemary essential oil on a cool damp washcloth - laid on the forehead or back of the neck - can also help alleviate headaches/migraines.

If none of that works try hot compresses. You need someone to help you with it. You need the hottest water (hotter even) you can stand and two hand towels. Lay down and have your helper alternate the hot compresses on your head for about an hour making sure that the moist heat stays on you the entire hour. It sounds barbaric, but works wonders. I have Trigeminal Neuralgia, so I what horrible pain is like. Try coffee as well, sometimes it works (to make it extra enjoyable, make it a caramel frappuccino). :)
