I'm going to cross post this in order to get more responses.. so please be patient with me.
I would like information on hypothyroidism. I know what it is, but am interested in input on herbal remedies as to how to alleviate the symptoms, and balance out the thyroid itself.
There are polops on the thyroid as well and the thyroid is "lumpy"
My friend was diagnosed with this and I have recommended some things but need more input then what I've read on the net so far.
Thank you all for your information.

Seaweed, and especially Bladderwrack, is good for this.

Re: Hypothyroidism
Tue, December 16, 2008 - 3:35 PM# 1 - A formula comprised of primary adaptogens such as- Eleuthrococcus, Shizandra, Aralia, Rhodiola and some more warming (Yang tonifying) adaptogens like Panax Ginseng, Rhaponticum, and Pantocrine.
also helpful, N-Acetyl Tyrosine and selenium.
Iodine containing sea vegetables can be effective, but you don't want to push a stuggling system too much without nourishing it as well, hence the adaptogens. -

Re: Hypothyroidism
Tue, December 16, 2008 - 3:57 PMThank you Shawn, will try some of these remedies. Beats surgery... LOL and all the doctors want to do is either medicate it with drugs that have some unapprving side effects and/or remove it.. Neither is a great option.. -

Re: Hypothyroidism
Wed, December 17, 2008 - 1:39 PMAbnormal and lumpy? Have you had a biopsy?
If it's thyroid cancer you want it whacked out.
When I had my thyroid removed they put me on a synthetic thyroid hormone. I haven't noticed any side effects in five years. -

Re: Hypothyroidism
Wed, December 17, 2008 - 7:50 PMRight now they want to monitor it every 3 months. She just began the meds (synthroid) on the 4th of December so will go back to the doctor sometime in January for blood check up. She has good days and bad days.. some days she cant really get out of bed and function. Her husband is worried about her, as I am. But right now she's open to all alternatives.
She said the test results showed it was lumpy and that she had a couple polops but the doc said right now theres nothing to worry about as the polops are smooth and round. I guess its when they change it becomes problematical. She said that the doctor recommended that if she notices anything really strange to get right in so he can recheck her too.
She has a lot of ppl concerned about her..Shes a very special person.
I've been trying to get as much info as I can for her. So will pass this along too... Thanks.
