Sun, December 21, 2008 - 3:29 PMYou may want to start here!

Don't let the costs get to you - some have great scholarship programs! Go with the one that will match your philosophy and your energies the best!
I have been investigating Ayurveda to continue my herbal education. I am happy with receiving my MH from School of Natural Healing (and through scholarships with them, and the Soroptomists in my area, I paid about $1550 for about a $5500 education!) If this is an area you are interested in, I can share some links I found. I hope this is a good starting point for you! -

Mon, December 29, 2008 - 5:27 PMOne question you might consider asking yourself is what is your end goal? Are you seeking the knowledge for your own use or to use toward a business or such. If that latter is the case accreditation is as important as the education. Depending on your state of residence the accreditation might be invalid.

Re: Best certification
Wed, January 7, 2009 - 3:02 PMI'm take Rosemary Gladstar's correspondence course. I like her mix of science and art, and if you take it seriously I think it's pretty rigorous.

Re: Best certification
Sat, January 10, 2009 - 4:17 PMHello,
I have been studying with "The School of Natural Healing" founded by the great Dr. John Christopher..What a guy!!! He is sadly missed. It is a very thourough course..has alot about nutrition, herbal identification, horticulture, herbal chemistry, preparation, botanay, etc. www.snh.cc. After completion you will be a Master Herbalist.
I have also started studying with Rosemary Gladstar and love her course, also.
However, if you want to be 'certified', I would recommend the Australasian College. It is a little on the pricy side, but they are an accredited college and have some great offerings. www.achs.edu
Good luck in your endeavors,
Trudy

Re: Best certification
Mon, February 2, 2009 - 9:24 AMthere is a RH "certification" through i think the american herbalist guild. it requires education and apprenticepship with approved people.
in terms of state certification - the oriental medicine schools (4 years and probably $80,000) or naturopathy (5/6 years and closer to $100,000) or nursing (??)
another thing to continue if certification is not the point but being a good practitioner is - is finding a school with a supervised clinic.
